Hallowe'en At HMBYC!

(Or is it Samhain, or All Hallows Eve?)

Come celebrate All Hallows Eve at the club. It's our 40th anniversary Hallowe'en party, and we're having a toga party!

Think Animal House, not A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum—Animal House was released just a few months after HMBYC was founded, back in 1978. As for the rumors that there was some connection between those two events, well, you'll have to ask one of our more senior members who was around at the time. Event captain Connie Malach might be a good choice. (One serious note: please keep it safe and legal, unlike the movie!)

Our toga party won't involve pouring drinks over yourself, or really any of the behaviors for which the movie is so well-known...but it will involve live music, wearing togas, eating pizza, and having the frosty beverage of your choice. Unlike your university experiences, though, the pizzas at our toga party will be handmade by our own Mike McGrath of Panificio, aka "Pizza Mike," using his very own wood-fired pizza oven.

Party details: 1900-2200 in the event center and on the new deck. Live music by Off The Record with Catie Chase, also from 1900 to 2200. Register by Wednesday night 24 October to be sure of a pizza!

As for your toga, it
can be anything from your basic bedsheet to something much more elaborate. Here are a few links on how to make your own, in case you don't have one hanging in your closet:

or just ask Google for instructions.  Note that the Commodore has approved wearing of the colors virilis,
praetexta, candida, or picta, but please not pulla. There's a  contest, of course, so get creative.

Adults only, please.
