Chili-Fest 3pm

You know how we can only hold a regatta with a minimum of 3 entries per boat class? Well, the same thing is true about Sunday's chili cook-off...we need at least 3 competitors to have a contest. And—you see this coming, right?—we only had 2 competitors enter. Oops. But all is not lost...maybe this is just a sign from the universe that we should be less competitive? Riffing on that idea, event captain John Simons has graciously converted the contest into a good old-fashioned chili celebration!

Come out Sunday afternoon anyway, just to enjoy a variety of chili offerings. Chili Czar John will be providing his chili; Galley Manager Suzanne—yes, someone actually born in Texas!—will be providing her chili; and the two erstwhile competitors will still provide theirs as well. And of course there will be all the usual fixings: cheese, onions, sour cream, chips, tomatoes, and so on. There will even be spaghetti available, so if you're the sort of person who gets excited at the phrase "chili mac" then you're in luck. (Texans, you can avert your eyes.)

But wait, there's more: The Commodore (that's me :) ) will be making cornbread to go with the chili, and Suz is even planning to provide a fresh watermelon-lime agua fresca for the occasion.

SO: bad news, no judging. But great news: as many as 4 chili choices to try, plus cornbread, toppings, and agua fresca. At great prices, too: $5/bowl for chili, with toppings and cornbread included; $1/glass for the agua fresca. Plus there's the awesome view from our new deck, and the company of your fellow club members. Oh, yeah, if you were still trying to figure out how to properly fete a father for Fathers' Day...here's a perfect opportunity to feed the guy a great meal for not a lot of cash. What's not to like?!

Where? The event center. When? Sunday June 16th starting at 1500, until 1800 or it sells out, whichever comes first. I'll be there, of course, and I hope to see lots of you there too.

Fair winds,
Scott
